Zombicide - Jovem Nerd Special Guest Pack (pt1)

And Now For Something Completely Different!

It felt like it was time to paint something other than tiny ships.

By way of introduction

Zombicide is a delightfully addictive strategy boardgame which involves up to 6 players leading a group of survivors through a zombie-infested town, searching for loot and completing objectives, all while fighting off ever-increasing hordes of zombies. It comes in two flavours: the base game, which is a modern, post-apocalyptic zombie game, and "Black Plague", which has much more of a medieval fantasy feel.

I am in no way sponsored by the guys behind this, but if anyone wants to check it out, here's their website which will probably provide far better info than I can! https://zombicide.com/en/

Now I do not own the base game. Firestorm Falcon, whose "Enemy Frequency" posts you may have noticed, is the proud owner of a copy of Zombicide: Black Plague, and I have spent far too hours post-midnight playing it. I am also still bothering him to actually paint the bloody thing!

Now while I don't own the base game, I wanted to bring something to the table as well, so I invested in one of the "Special Guest" character packs, specifically the one featuring characters from a D&D campaign run by Brazilian podcast Jovem Nerd. Now I must admit I know nothing about this podcast but the models were really cool, so I was drawn in. The pack came with 4 models, 2 of which I have finished painting, and the other 2 will appear in due course.

Painting inspiration

If anyone remembers the first post of this blog, I showed pictures of some Warhammer Fantasy Chaos warriors with blue glowing eyes. Something about these Zombicide characters just reminded me of that look, so I decided to try replicating the scheme here, some 9 years after those warriors were first painted. (Spoiler alert, I've forgotten how to paint the object source lighting I used for their eyes).

Overall, I was happy with the result and really enjoyed painting these models: for one-piece board-game models they are really nicely detailed.

I also have to apologise in advance to Jovem Nerd for just largely disregarding their background!

So without further ado, some shiny pictures:

The Prior of the Old Gods

Appearing in the cursed city mere hours before the plague arrived, the other survivors were suspicious to say the least
But as the ominous figures in their unusual armour laid waste to the undead around them, their allegiance became clear
The Chosen of the Old Gods
Whatever power they served, they were clearly no friends to the undead...
... although that was hardly a comforting thought

Coming up next, will be the end of the first month of the Tale of 2 Admirals, as well as further separate updates for the PLC, and maybe even a bit of a branch out into Infinity!

As always, thanks for looking!
